Job Description

As a Senior Bookkeeper, you will oversee financial operations and ensure their robustness and reliability. You will lead onboarding and cleanup projects, mentor junior team members, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) to guarantee smooth processes.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing and ensuring the quality of junior bookkeeper outputs.
  • Leading accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processes: invoice preparation, approval flows, and reconciliation.
  • Managing onboarding and cleanup workflows for new client accounts.
  • Maintaining and enhancing SOPs, checklists, and process documentation.
  • Ensuring compliance with US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP) and internal standards.
  • Training and coaching junior bookkeepers, serving as an escalation contact.
  • Effectively managing multiple clients and meeting all deadlines for month-end close.
  • Executing onboarding plans collaboratively with the pod lead.
  • Communicating proficiently via email and Slack using alias accounts.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you should possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience.
  • Deep understanding of US GAAP, full-cycle bookkeeping, and financial cleanup.
  • Experience with QuickBooks, Xero, or similar platforms.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and process adherence.
  • Strong leadership capability and mentoring experience.
  • Track record of creating or refining SOPs and efficient workflows.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and written communication skills.
