Software Engineering Leadership

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineering Manager to lead our Linux kernel teams in delivering high-quality software solutions.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing technical teams, leading cross-functional projects, and driving process automation initiatives.

This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned engineering professional to join our global team and contribute to the development of innovative open-source software.

About the Role:

  • Lead a distributed team of software engineers in delivering all aspects of Linux kernel development.
  • Take ownership of specific areas of Ubuntu Linux, including working with silicon partners, ensuring quality control standards, and mitigating security threats.
  • Collaborate with other teams at Canonical to achieve common goals and drive business success.

Requirements:

  • Significant programming experience in C, with Python, Golang, or other similar languages.
  • Substantial experience with operating system kernel internals and concepts, preferably Linux.
  • Demonstrated experience managing or leading a team of software engineers.
  • Ability to coordinate between multiple teams to achieve common goals.
  • Familiarity with version control practices, ideally with Git.
  • Prior experience developing with software packaging formats, with direct Ubuntu/Debian/Snap experience being highly regarded.
  • Professional written and spoken English with excellent presentation skills.
