Accounting Expertise in US Non-Profit Sectors

A professional with extensive experience in accounting for US non-profit organizations is sought after to work remotely in a part-time capacity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Verify the accuracy of accounting information by recording, analyzing, and consolidating transactions.
  • Compile and analyze account information to prepare and record asset, liability, revenue, and expenses entries.
  • Manage the general ledger by transferring subsidiary accounts, preparing a trial balance, and reconciling entries.
  • Present financial status summaries by collecting information and preparing balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other relevant reports.
  • Ensure timely completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual close responsibilities and maintain team members' progress during the close process.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across the organization to optimize processes and ensure efficiency.
  • Adhere to deadlines and policies while maintaining control over financial matters.
  • Provide accurate deliverables to external auditors on annual audits and quarterly reviews.
  • Conduct internal audit engagements.
  • Support external audits by analyzing and scheduling general ledger accounts and providing necessary information for auditors.
  • Prevent potential legal challenges by complying with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Secure financial data by completing database backups.
  • Protect the organization's sensitive financial information.
  • Assist with month-end close and other projects as needed.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting, along with more than seven years of experience in the field.
  • Extensive knowledge of US non-profit accounting, including reporting and compliance requirements (tax).
  • Familiarity with U.S. GAAP and/or IFRS standards.
  • Certified Public Accountant certification is highly desirable.
  • Previous experience working in a Big 4 firm is an added advantage.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and strong skills in developing financial reports and metrics.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, enabling effective interaction with various management levels.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing, fast-paced environments.
  • Strong skills in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Superior attention to detail and ability to handle multiple competing priorities while maintaining a broader perspective.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence others through effective verbal and written communication.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive projects across the organization.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
