We are seeking a highly skilled PostgreSQL Database Engineer to join our team at RCX Recruitment Inc. in this exciting opportunity.

As a key member of our database team, you will design, implement, and maintain high availability PostgreSQL database clusters on Docker Swarm running on Red Hat Linux. Your expertise in configuring and optimizing PostgreSQL databases for performance, scalability, and security will be essential in ensuring the smooth operation of our systems.

A successful candidate will have a strong understanding of PostgreSQL architecture, internals, and performance tuning, as well as experience with Docker and Docker Swarm for containerization and orchestration. Additionally, they should be proficient in Red Hat Linux operating system administration and scripting languages such as Bash and Python.

The ideal candidate will also possess excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. They should stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and best practices in PostgreSQL, Docker Swarm, Red Hat Linux, and PGPool.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Designing, implementing, and maintaining high availability PostgreSQL database clusters on Docker Swarm running on Red Hat Linux
  • Configuring and optimizing PostgreSQL databases for performance, scalability, and security
  • Deploying and managing pgpool for load balancing in PostgreSQL clusters
  • Troubleshooting and resolving database-related issues promptly
  • Developing and maintaining database backup and recovery procedures
  • Collaborating with development teams to ensure database compatibility and performance

Additionally, the candidate should have:

  • Error analysis skills: Develop skills in analyzing logs and error messages related to database connection I/O errors
  • Network diagnostics skills: Understand how to use tools like ping, traceroute, and netstat to identify connectivity issues
  • Resource monitoring skills: Learn to monitor server resources (CPU, memory, I/O) that can affect database connections
  • Database configuration knowledge: Knowledge of PostgreSQL and PgPool configurations that could cause connection bottlenecks or timeouts
  • Performance profiling skills: Techniques for profiling database performance to identify issues related to connection latency or timeouts

The estimated salary for this position is $55,000 - $90,000 per year, based on industry standards and requirements.
