Job Overview

The Senior Developer will be a key member of the Development Team, responsible for maintaining and expanding our systems both internal and customer-facing. This is an exciting opportunity to take on new challenges and advance your career in software development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Development team and internal stakeholders to maintain and enhance existing systems with new functionality.
  • Investigate and resolve reported issues efficiently.
  • Guide maintenance and design of legacy and database systems/applications.
  • Optimize SQL queries for performance and scalability.
  • Inform design of robust and secure database applications.
  • Develop test cases and testing of code developed by yourself and others.
  • Provide support to the wider development team.
  • Communicate with internal stakeholders to accurately scope and design system requirements.
  • Maintain documentation for internal systems, APIs, and databases.
  • Adhere to security best practices at all times.

Requirements:

  • Strong English language skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work in Melbourne hours to align with company head office.
  • Bachelor's Degree in appropriate field of study or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years' experience in a similar role, ideally within telecommunications.
  • Experience working in remote-based teams.
  • Extensive experience on database design, implementation, and management (within service-based systems, ideally).
  • Experience working with maintenance programming and enhancing functionality in existing systems.
  • Strong understanding of SQL queries.
  • Strong understanding of PHP and GitHub.
  • Strong understanding of Laravel framework.
  • Initiative to 'roll up your sleeves' and figure things out when necessary.
  • Ability to problem solve and work independently and as part of the development team.
