Community Development Specialist

  • As a Community Development Specialist, you will play a key role in fostering a thriving community.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, execute and scale initiatives that enhance community contribution experience.
  • Support community initiatives with technical skills and strong organizational skills.
  • Work hand in hand with developers to smooth processes and integrate community plans with business plans for maximum impact.
  • Represent community interests to internal teams.
  • Provide content and technical support to ensure the community stays engaged and informed.
  • Communicate effectively with developers and software engineers and represent the community in external events.
  • Attend conferences and expos to talk about community projects and their development processes.

  • Requirements:
  • Curiosity, flexibility, articulation and accountability.
  • Soft skills are valued highly including being passionate, enterprising, thoughtful and self-motivated.
  • Experience with developer tools and open source projects is essential.
  • A clear public record of accomplishments such as talks, blog posts, GitHub etc is required.
  • Interest and experience with some of the following: Ubuntu Linux - kernel or userspace, DevOps, software development, testing and QA, package management, container technology.
  • Ability to work autonomously and assume full ownership of objectives as needed.
  • Flexibility with time and enjoyment working with new technology in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working with open source communities and understanding the workflow of volunteer contributors.
  • Program management experience with excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
