Job Summary:

A results-driven and detail-oriented Tax Professional is sought after to handle tax-related matters with expertise.

This role involves preparing and reviewing tax returns, providing advisory services to clients on tax planning, compliance, and structuring, and ensuring adherence to all applicable federal, state, and local tax laws.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Tax Preparation: Prepare and review U.S. individual, corporate, and partnership tax returns (Forms 1040, 1120, 1065, etc.)
  • Client Advisory: Advise clients on tax planning, compliance, and structuring matters
  • Representation: Represent clients before the IRS in audits, appeals, and collection cases
  • Compliance: Assist in preparing responses to IRS notices and handling tax controversy matters
  • Filings: Ensure timely and accurate filings with adherence to IRS and state-specific guidelines
  • Teamwork: Coordinate with cross-functional teams (e.g., accounting, legal) on tax issues
  • Knowledge Management: Stay up to date with U.S. tax laws, international tax treaties, and IRS updates
  • Training: Train junior staff or tax associates as needed

Requirements:

  • Professional Certification: Must be an Enrolled Agent (EA) with current IRS credentials
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Experience: A minimum of 4 years of experience in U.S. tax preparation and consulting
  • Skills: Strong understanding of U.S. tax codes, especially for individuals and small businesses; Experience with tax software (e.g., Drake, ProSeries, UltraTax, or similar); Familiarity with FATCA, FBAR, and foreign asset reporting; Knowledge of QuickBooks or other accounting software; Solid communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with clients
