Environmental Ecologist

As a key member of the WKC team, you will play a vital role in supporting our ecological research and conservation efforts. We are seeking an experienced Environmental Scientist/EIA/Ecologist to join our team, possessing strong technical written skills and a basic understanding of statistics.

The ideal candidate will have experience in assisting with field surveys and possess strong field ecology survey skills in marine and/or terrestrial ecosystems. A basic understanding of wildlife legislation and policy in the Arabian Peninsula is also highly desirable.

This role will involve assisting with desk studies on terrestrial and/or marine ecology and field surveys. As the successful candidate progresses, they will take on more responsibilities such as assisting with ecological impact assessment studies and providing mitigation for protected flora and fauna for various development projects in the GCC or Philippines.

Key responsibilities will include:

1. Integrating with the ecology team conducting field surveys.
2. Data and sample analysis, and species distribution pattern.
3. Assisting with habitat surveys, identifying different habitat types and associated flora and fauna in the field.
4. Undertaking report writing duties and maintaining and monitoring ecological survey equipment.
5. Developing a good understanding of local wildlife legislation and communicating this effectively to colleagues, clients, and contractors.
6. Keeping accurate field notes and handling, recording, and storing data effectively.
