Accounting Specialist Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Accounting Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality financial services by providing timely and accurate accounting, managing client relationships, and identifying opportunities for growth.

About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and detail-oriented individual to take on a challenging role in our finance department. As an Accounting Specialist, you will be responsible for maintaining awareness of each client's needs and opportunities for profit growth and stewardship.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process bank feeds: Code transactions from each bank or credit card account according to written processes.
  • Perform bank account reconciliations: Assist with end-of-month reconciliation for assigned client accounts.
  • Reconcile client credit card activity.
  • Conduct monthly financial reviews: Follow up with clients on unrecorded income/expenses; cross-check statements for accuracy.
  • Record payroll transactions using templates; prepare journal entries; upload to QuickBooks and/or Xero; book benefit bills; reconcile clearing accounts.
  • Assist with accounting cleanup in areas such as revenue coding, payroll, balance sheet accounts.
Requirements:
  • A background in Accounting or understanding of basic accounting principles.
  • An intermediate level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets.
  • Good written communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented; able to learn new concepts with written and hands-on support.
  • Experience in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
