Lead Actuary

We seek an experienced and skilled professional to join our team of actuarial experts in Insurance or Financial Services.

About the Role

This senior leadership position requires a highly analytical and detail-oriented individual who can manage leaders and high-performing teams to deliver exceptional results while overseeing individual tasks, driving strategic initiatives, and various additional responsibilities.

The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of leading teams, managing complex projects, and communicating effectively with stakeholders. They will also be able to work in an evolving and dynamic environment, staying up-to-date with industry trends, regulatory shifts, and technological advancements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Team Leadership
    • Provide proactive leadership and coaching to a team of actuarial professionals.
    • Allocate and monitor work to ensure accurate and timely completion of assignments within established timeframes and quality standards.
  • Business Support
    • Support the business in tasks which may be within the following functional areas:
    • Valuation, Asset Modeling, Pricing, Experience Studies, Reinsurance, Retirement, and Audit
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Cultivate cross-functional collaboration to ensure precise financial projections, optimal pricing strategies, and effective risk-management solutions.
  • Innovation and Development
    • Drive innovation by staying at the forefront of industry trends, regulatory shifts, and technological advancements.
Requirements:
  • Educational Background
    • Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, or related fields.
  • Professional Experience
    • Minimum 10 years of actuarial work experience in Insurance or Financial Services.
  • Professional Designations
    • Fellowship designation in recognized actuarial organizations (SOA, ASP) is preferred.
  • Skillset
    • Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to build camaraderie across levels and functions.
    • Results-oriented, able to manage expectations, work under tight deadlines, and handle competing priorities.
    • Strong business acumen with the ability to communicate complex actuarial concepts clearly and concisely.
    • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, VBA, Access), GGY AXIS, SQL, Qlikview, Python, or similar programs.
