About the Job

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, testing, and maintaining web and desktop-based multiplatform business applications using Open Source technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working closely with an agile team to design, develop, unit test, and deploy applications in accordance with established standards.
  • Assisting in the collection and documentation of user requirements, development of user stories, and estimates.
  • Preparing reports, manuals, and other documentation on the status, operation, and maintenance of software.
  • Participating in peer-reviews of solution designs and related code.
  • Package and support deployment of releases.
  • Migrating older applications (VB.Net) to the current Python stack.
  • Developing, refining, and tuning integration between existing and 3rd-party devices/applications.
  • Writing detailed documentation for the operation of the application by users and operators.
  • Analyzing and resolving technical and application problems.
  • Delivering solutions on-time and on-budget while adhering to high-quality development principles.
  • Providing third-level support to business users.

Requirements

  • College or University degree in Computer Science or a related discipline/equivalent experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Desire to learn and grow professionally.
  • Strong attention to detail and work ethic.

Competency Requirements

  • Solid understanding of object-oriented programming concepts.
  • Solid understanding of relational database design and querying concepts.
  • Familiarity with version control concepts.

Preferred Competency Requirements

  • Knowledgeable in Python/Django.
  • Exposure to web development using HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft .NET Framework.
  • Knowledge of client/server application development.
  • Knowledge of agile development methodologies.
  • Knowledge of unit testing theory.
  • Good oral and written English communication skills.
