Job Overview

The Medical Billing Specialist role involves organizing and maintaining patient health information. This includes sorting and maintaining patient medical data, ensuring compliance with company policies and government regulations.

Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the security and confidentiality of patient records.
  • Review patient records daily for accuracy and completeness, updating information as needed.
  • Access patient records as required for review by other staff members.
  • Meet professional standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Accurately encode information from scanned medical images.
  • Verify patient eligibility and benefits for treatments, hospitalizations, and procedures.
  • Review patient bills for accuracy and completeness, obtaining missing information as necessary.
  • Prepare, review, and transmit claims using billing software.
Requirements and QualificationsPreferred Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent multitasking and prioritization skills.
  • A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail in reviewing and processing patient records.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with insurance payers and patients.
  • Familiarity with CPT and ICD-10 coding systems.
  • Effective communication skills for resolving issues with insurance phone specialists.
  • Customer service skills for interacting with patients and insurance representatives.
  • Problem-solving skills to research and resolve discrepancies, denials, and appeals.
  • Maintaining patient confidentiality as per HIPAA guidelines.
