Financial Specialist Job Description

We are currently searching for an experienced Financial Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting practices, with a solid understanding of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). In this role, you'll be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing tax filings, and conducting regular audits to ensure compliance with accounting standards.

The Financial Specialist will oversee and manage the entire accounting cycle, ensuring timely and accurate financial statement preparation. This includes conducting monthly and annual closing processes, journal entries, general ledger maintenance, and balance sheet reconciliations. You will also administer accounts payable and receivable, preparing and filing tax returns, both federal and state, and ensuring compliance with all tax regulations and deadlines.

In addition, the Financial Specialist will develop and monitor internal controls and policies to ensure financial data integrity and security. You will collaborate with external auditors during annual audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations for financial practices. You will participate in budget preparation and financial forecasting, providing insights and analysis for strategic decision-making.

The Financial Specialist will implement and optimize accounting software and systems to improve financial reporting and operational efficiency. You will provide financial analysis and reports to management, highlighting key trends, variances, and areas for improvement. Act as a financial advisor within the organization, offering guidance on financial best practices, expense management, and investment opportunities.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting for U.S. companies.
  • Proficiency in financial accounting software, with a strong preference for experience in QuickBooks.
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) in the U.S. and experience with financial statement preparation.
  • Fully fluent in English.
  • Ability to commit long-term and work full-time.
  • Ability to work U.S. business hours (Pacific Time, Central Time, or Eastern Time).
