Job Overview

The role of a Lead Automation Engineer is pivotal in driving test automation efforts using a custom-built testing framework that combines C# backend testing with Playwright UI automation.

This includes projects that utilize an innovative abstraction layer as well as traditional Playwright implementations for various web applications.

  • Develop and maintain custom test automation frameworks to streamline test processes
  • Mentor team members on framework-specific patterns and best practices to ensure consistency
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement compile-time consistency strategies across the stack
  • Automate end-to-end tests for UI and API workflows using testing frameworks such as Playwright and Selenium
  • Design and implement test automation architecture using Page Object Model (POM) or similar design patterns to ensure scalability and maintainability
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Team City, Mercurial/Git, and GitHub
  • Perform cross-browser testing to ensure compatibility

Strong technical skills, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are essential requirements for this challenging role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop data management strategies using database manipulation to enhance test efficiency
  • Support other testers and automation engineers in approach, design, script development, execution, and reporting
  • Analyze and communicate test results and defect resolution tasks to stakeholders
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices to apply them to existing projects
  • Demonstrate automation solutions to key stakeholders, showcasing value and progress
  • Monitor and review daily test reports, taking necessary actions to address failures or issues
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field
  • 6 + years of experience in test automation for multi-platform, multi-user web-based applications, preferably in complex ERP systems or similar enterprise-level software
  • Experience with C# to TypeScript code generation workflows
  • SQL Server proficiency and database setup/management
  • Test data management strategies using direct database manipulation
  • Understanding of database-driven test scenarios
  • NUnit testing framework expertise
  • Understanding of robot pattern implementations
  • Experience with strongly typed test automation approaches
  • Experience testing complex business workflows and processes
  • Strong programming skills in language such as C# or Java, Typescript with ability to write modular maintainable code
  • Experience designing and executing functional UI, backend and APIs based manual and automated tests
  • Agile – Scrum, Kanban or Lean development process experience is required
  • Experience with Cucumber/Gherkin, Playwright, Selenium WebDriver open-source frameworks is required
  • Desirable experience with Jenkins, Team City, mercurial or other build management, continuous integration tools, AWS
