Companion Animal Nutrition Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and knowledgeable Companion Animal Nutrition Specialist to enhance the nutritional well-being of dogs and cats through our pet food products. Key Responsibilities:

• Formulate Nutritionally Balanced Diets: Conduct thorough nutritional assessments and analysis of ingredients to create complete and balanced diets for our canine and feline companions.
• Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work with our research and development teams to develop innovative pet food formulations that meet nutritional guidelines and customer preferences.
• Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Utilize knowledge of pet food regulations and standards to guarantee compliance with relevant laws and labeling requirements.
• Quality Control and Assurance: Perform quality control checks on raw materials, intermediate products, and finished pet food to maintain consistency and safety standards.
• Stay Up-to-Date with Industry Trends: Monitor and evaluate pet food trends, consumer preferences, and emerging nutritional research to inform product development strategies.
• Provide Technical Support: Offer technical support and expertise to internal teams, including marketing, sales, and customer service, to address inquiries and ensure accurate product information.
• Conduct Feeding Trials and Sensory Evaluations: Conduct feeding trials and sensory evaluations to assess palatability, digestibility, and overall acceptance of pet food formulations.
• Collaborate with Suppliers: Collaborate with suppliers to source high-quality ingredients and evaluate their nutritional value and suitability for use in pet food production.
• Develop Educational Materials: Develop educational materials and training programs for retail staff and veterinary professionals to promote understanding of pet nutrition and the benefits of specific dietary choices.

Requirements:

• Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in Animal Science, Animal Nutrition, Veterinary Medicine, Food Science, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications in Pet Nutrition are preferred.
• Experience: Proven experience working as a Companion Animal Nutritionist, Pet Food Nutritionist, or in a related role within the pet food industry.
• Knowledge and Skills: In-depth knowledge of companion animal physiology, nutrient requirements, and dietary guidelines for dogs and cats. Familiarity with pet food formulation software and analytical tools used in assessing nutritional composition and ingredient interactions.
• Communication and Collaboration: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to diverse audiences. Ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams and adapt to evolving project priorities and timelines.
