We are seeking a skilled General Accountant to join our team on a 9-month contract. As a key member of our finance function, you will play a crucial role in managing day-to-day transactional finance processes.

Job Description

The successful candidate will work closely with the Financial Controller and wider finance team to ensure accurate, compliant, and timely financial operations across the business.

You will be responsible for managing finance inbox and accurately processing supplier invoices, credit cards, and employee expenses in NetSuite. Additionally, you will raise purchase orders upon request and ensure alignment with financial records.

Your duties will also include preparing weekly payment runs for review and processing, as well as sending sales invoices and tracking payment status. You will also perform regular reconciliations of bank accounts and ensure transactional integrity.

In this role, you will assist in the preparation of accruals, prepayments, fixed asset register maintenance, and balance sheet reconciliations. You will also support the preparation and filing of VAT returns in compliance with UK tax standards.

As a proactive, self-starter, you will prioritize tasks effectively and deliver accurate financial data within tight deadlines. Your strong working knowledge of accounting principles and month-end/year-end processes will enable you to make a meaningful contribution to our team.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accountancy, Finance, or a related field
  • 3–5 years of hands-on experience within a finance function
  • Experience in UK GAAP and IFRS is highly preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of accounting principles and month-end/year-end processes
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel; experience with NetSuite is a plus
