Bus Driver Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Bus Driver to join our team.

Job Description:

The successful candidate will be responsible for safely transporting students to and from school, as well as participating in daily routes and activity trips.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Maintain a commercial class A or B driver's license, with both "P" (passenger) and "S" (school bus) endorsements
  • Complete Entry Level Behind the Wheel Training (ELDT) with a FMCSA registered training provider - minimum of 12 hours
  • Pass a state approved Defensive Driving Course (within 30 days of the first day of student transport, and renewed at minimum every 3 years)
  • Have a physical examination in accordance with the Kansas Department of Transportation form 1541
  • Attend 10 safety meetings annually
  • Route drivers must be a minimum of 18 years of age, Activity Drivers must be a minimum of 21 years of age.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain daily transportation logs (including documentation of safety checks) and submit to supervisor
  • Report mechanical problems or routine maintenance needs to Director of Transportation
  • Collaborate with other drivers and transportation personnel to develop and implement daily routes as well as monthly planning of activity trips
  • Communicate effectively and in a professional manner with parents and other stakeholders
  • Maintain a route map in assigned bus and current copy with Transportation Director and Building Administrator
  • Follow pick-up times as indicated on route sheets
  • Maintain cleanliness of assigned bus (both inside and outside)
  • Maintain a safe and orderly environment while driving the bus
