Medical Coding Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Medical Coding Specialist to fulfill a critical role in our organization. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in assigning diagnosis and procedure codes to patient records using ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS or other designated coding systems.

Patient Types: Low acuity inpatient, OB/NB, acute psych, 1-day stays require accurate coding.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Abstract relevant clinical information from medical records for precise coding.
  • Accurately code diagnoses and procedures, including modifiers, and resolve coding discrepancies.
  • Respond to audits and implement necessary changes to coded accounts based on agreed findings.
  • Maintain adherence to AHIMA's Standards of Ethical Coding.
Requirements:
  • At least one year of experience performing inpatient medical record coding.
  • AHIMA or AAPC coding credentials (CPC, CIC, CCS) are required for this position.
Work Setup:
  • Remote work arrangement available with flexible scheduling.
  • Two consecutive rest days included in the work schedule.
