Property Accountant Position

A property accountant plays a pivotal role in maintaining accurate financial records for multiple properties. This requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.

Duties
  • Maintain precise financial records for multiple properties using industry-leading software.
  • Process accounts payable and receivable, including vendor bills and tenant payments in a timely manner.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, trust accounts, and credit card statements on a monthly basis to ensure accuracy.
  • Prepare detailed owner statements, financial reports, and draw schedules as required.
  • Monitor and manage tenant ledgers, security deposits, and lease-related transactions with diligence.
  • Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and real estate-specific accounting standards at all times.
  • Collaborate with property managers to resolve discrepancies and support audits efficiently.
  • Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and year-end financial preparations to guarantee fiscal responsibility.
  • Handle tax documentation, 1099s, and other regulatory filings as necessary.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
  • CPA or Bookkeeping Certification can be advantageous.
Experience
  • A minimum of 3 years of bookkeeping experience, preferably in real estate, is required.
  • Proven expertise in industry-leading software such as AppFolio is essential.
  • Experience managing financials for multiple properties or portfolios is highly valued.
Skills & Tools
  • Advanced proficiency in industry-leading software, QuickBooks, and Excel is mandatory.
  • A strong understanding of real estate accounting principles is crucial.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills are necessary.
  • The ability to work independently and meet deadlines is vital.
  • Strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration are essential.
