Job Overview

The Software Engineering Manager plays a pivotal role in spearheading distributed teams of engineers responsible for enhancing open-source software through defect resolution and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and lead a distributed team of engineers
  • Hire, coach, mentor, provide feedback and career development guidance to your team
  • Monitor and measure key performance indicators (KPIs), and training
  • Support timely delivery of bug fixes, patches, and other technical solutions to address business needs in various technology fields
  • Represent the organization's best interests in customer interactions
  • Establish and manage expectations with other engineering teams, senior management, and external stakeholders
  • Promote modern software development practices
  • Foster a healthy, collaborative engineering culture aligned with the company values
  • Collaborate with other teams within the organization
Requirements
  • Professional software delivery experience using C, C++, Go, Python, or similar programming languages
  • You are knowledgeable and passionate about software development principles
  • Leadership experience showcasing ability to organize and prioritize complex problem-solving and bug fixes
  • Experience with version control systems such as git
  • Proficiency in debugging tools like gdb, crash, or other
  • Demonstrated commitment to testing methodologies and maintainable code quality
  • Excellent communication skills in the English language, both verbal and written
  • Experience with Linux, with a preference towards Ubuntu
  • Familiarity with Open Source and Open Source Business Models
