Job Purpose:

The primary objective of this role is to ensure the General Account portfolios (Life and GI) deliver sufficient returns to cover policyholder liabilities and shareholder dividends. This involves direct portfolio management, thorough investment research, and regular reporting to stakeholders.

Critical Accountabilities

Portfolio Management Strategy
  1. Ensure the Non-linked funds can meet policy liabilities and other cash outflows through an Asset-Liability Management perspective for effective portfolio management.
  2. Achieve at least benchmark return with no breach in risk limits as defined in the Risk Appetite Framework.
  3. Guarantee investment portfolio's compliance with regulatory requirements, Non-Linked Investment Policy, and Risk Appetite Framework.
  4. Monitor and efficiently manage liquidity to support investment decisions.
  5. Collaborate with the ALM team to optimize asset-liability matching by understanding product level design and characteristics.
  6. Introduce new investment outlets/asset classes and investment strategies to enhance liability hedging and NII.
  7. Research alternative ways to improve asset-liability matching and uplift net investment income.
  8. Explore options for additional asset classes with counterparties.
Policy and Manual Updates
  1. Update the policy and manual in line with current and/or ideal practice and consistent with Group standards.
Management Reporting Insights
  1. Provide expert views on asset classes and investment strategies.
  2. Collaborate with the rest of the Investment Team in identifying areas of opportunities in current market conditions.
  3. ESG oversight of Non-Linked investment accounts using standard AXA Group level scoring methodologies.
  4. Keep management informed of ESG related market developments.
Support to Internal Stakeholders
  1. Create and present regular market updates in monthly business review meetings.
  2. Conduct investment expense studies.
  3. Assist in discount rate computation during Annual Impairment Exercise.
  4. Collaborate with internal counterparties to optimize asset liability matching by providing input on model return assumptions and market scenarios.
Key Decisions and Dimensions

Decisions:

  1. Developing and updating investment plans, deciding on target duration gaps.
  2. Consistently delivering high-quality fund and market updates to stakeholders.

Quantifiable Data Related to Job:

  1. Portfolio alpha relative to benchmark.
  2. Change in market value of assets and liability reserves.
Educational Qualifications

A bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Management/Accounting, or Business Administration; consideration may be given to other degrees accompanied by relevant certifications and experience.

Certifications like CFA, FRM, Ateneo-BAP's TCP, TOAP's TIFP, PSE Securities Specialist, are advantageous.

Relevant Experience

At least 4 years of work experience as an Investment/Credit Analyst, Credit or Corporate Banking, or Broker/dealer in a financial institution or Research Analyst in an Asset Management company or Trader/Portfolio Manager working in equities, fixed income, or derivatives.
