Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead our Ubuntu Gaming team. As a key member of our engineering organization, you will be responsible for optimizing and expanding the Ubuntu gaming experience, focusing on the Steam Snap.

In this role, you will work closely with upstream projects like Proton and partners like Unity to enhance Ubuntu's gaming capabilities. You will also collaborate with other teams to ensure a cohesive and comprehensive Ubuntu experience.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software project management, risk assessment, and resource allocation. They will also possess excellent technical leadership skills, with the ability to balance technical expertise with effective team management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Ubuntu Gaming team in optimizing and expanding the Ubuntu gaming experience
  • Collaborate with upstream projects like Proton and partners like Unity to enhance Ubuntu's gaming capabilities
  • Work closely with other teams to ensure a cohesive and comprehensive Ubuntu experience

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Proven track record of successful software project management experience
  • Exceptional technical leadership skills
  • Strong understanding of Linux graphics stack and user-space components
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
