Medical Coding Education Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled professional to lead our medical coding education initiatives. As an Outpatient Trainer, you will be responsible for delivering comprehensive training programs to new and existing medical coders.
Main Responsibilities- Develop and implement cutting-edge medical coding and billing training modules (ICD 10 CM, CPT, E/M coding, Business of Medicine, Edit Resolution, and Revenue Cycle Management).
- Create curriculum and training syllabus related to coding and billing training programs including Periodic Updates, Policy updates, Peripherals of RCM, and Med-Metrix Learning Academy.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of ICD 10 CM, ICD 10 PCS, CPT and HCPCS coding guidelines.
- Update existing training modules to ensure they remain relevant and effective.
- Design and produce high-quality materials for inpatient medical coding exercises, assessment, and qualifying examination.
- Analyze coder scores from quizzes, exams, and assessments and present consolidated data during regular meetings.
- Provide ongoing certification support by offering continuing education units.
- Offer onboarding training and refresher courses for both new and experienced coders.
- Communicate changes and updates in guidelines and rules to the team.
- Collaborate with all workgroups to resolve issues impacting internal and external customers.
- Demonstrate thorough understanding of, and compliance with, company policies and procedures.
- Participate in monthly calibration training sessions.
- Create assessments to evaluate learnings from calibration training.
- Analyze coder scores from calibration assessment and present consolidated data to operations.
- Support QA Supervisor and QATM with account launch for launching accounts.
- Contribute to quality assurance by providing feedback and support for TNA, RCA, and educational note creation for QA Team.
- Audit QA staff to monitor their respective coding and auditing accuracy.
- Work Set-Up: Work From Home.
- Work Schedule: Dayshift.
- Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to move around the work area; sit; perform manual tasks; operate tools and other office equipment such as computer, computer peripherals and telephones; extend arms; kneel; talk and hear.
- Mental Demands: The employee must be able to follow directions, collaborate with others, and handle stress.
- Work Environment: The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal.
This role requires a graduate degree in any Medical or Allied Medical course or equivalent work experience. Additionally, CPC certification from AAPC or CCS certification from AHIMA is required. The ideal candidate should have proficient knowledge of Revenue Cycle Management, E/M and Procedure Coding, strong verbal, written communication, interpersonal and analytical skills, ability to plan well and prioritize work, maintain calmness under pressure and willingness to work extended hours.
