As a Romance Novel Proofreader, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the highest quality of our romance novels by reviewing and editing manuscripts for grammar, spelling, punctuation errors, and consistency in voice, formatting, and dialogue flow.

Key Responsibilities
  • Proofread manuscripts for grammar, spelling, punctuation errors, and consistency in voice, formatting, and dialogue flow.
  • Maintain consistency in character details, POVs, timelines, and emotional beats.
  • Flag potential errors or inconsistencies for review.
  • Provide actionable feedback through tracked changes, editorial notes, and occasional calls.
  • Juggle multiple projects while meeting production deadlines.
Requirements
  • At least 2 years of professional proofreading/copyediting experience in contemporary romance.
  • At least 2 published romance novels proofread (please provide links or ISBNs).
  • Advanced command of grammar, punctuation, spelling, and formatting.
  • Eye for detail and deep respect for the genre's pacing and emotional beats.
  • Organized, reliable, and able to balance multiple manuscripts at once.
