Impeccable Romance Novels: We're Looking for a Proofreader
About the Role- As a key member of our team, you will ensure that every manuscript we publish meets the highest standards of grammar, spelling, punctuation, and formatting.
- You will be responsible for maintaining consistency in voice, formatting, and dialogue flow, as well as double-checking continuity across POVs, timelines, and character details.
- Our ideal candidate has advanced command of grammar, punctuation, spelling, and formatting, with an eye for detail and deep respect for the genre's pacing and emotional beats.
- Proofread manuscripts for errors and inconsistencies.
- Maintain consistency in formatting and dialogue flow.
- Double-check continuity across different story elements.
- Flag potential errors or inconsistencies for review.
- Provide actionable feedback through tracked changes and editorial notes.
- 2+ years of professional proofreading/copyediting experience in contemporary romance.
- 2+ published romance novels proofread (please provide links or ISBNs).
- Advanced knowledge of grammar, punctuation, spelling, and formatting.
- Eye for detail and understanding of the romance genre's unique requirements.
- Organized, reliable, and able to balance multiple manuscripts at once.
- Fully remote role.
- Contract basis with compensated trial period.
- Competitive rate per book.
- A short introduction (200 words or fewer).
