Cloud Infrastructure Migration Specialist

The primary goal of this role is to oversee the migration of virtual machines across multiple environments with minimal downtime. This requires in-depth knowledge of Linux-based systems and their administration, as well as expertise in hypervisor platforms like Proxmox VE and VMware vSphere/ESXi.
A successful candidate will have a proven track record of successfully executing VM migrations in enterprise environments. They will be proficient in scripting languages such as Bash and Perl, and possess practical experience with infrastructure automation using tools like Puppet and Ansible.
In addition to technical skills, excellent communication and documentation skills are essential for this position. The ability to work flexible hours, including out-of-hours maintenance windows, is also necessary.
Key Responsibilities:- Migrate virtual machines across multiple environments with minimal downtime.
- Administer and maintain Linux-based systems supporting production workloads.
- Manage and operate hypervisor platforms for provisioning, migration, and lifecycle management.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts to support migration, monitoring, and routine operations.
- Implement and manage infrastructure automation using Puppet and Ansible for system configuration, deployment, and scaling.
- Create and review Migration Plans (MOPs) and Change Management Requests (CMRs) to ensure smooth execution.
- Perform scheduled out-of-hours maintenance in alignment with change management processes.
- Support the decommissioning of legacy systems, including service removal, data sanitization, and e-waste compliance.
- Document and maintain accurate system, process, and migration records.
- Continuously identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities.
- Strong hands-on experience with Linux administration.
- Proven expertise with hypervisors: Proxmox VE and VMware vSphere/ESXi.
- Proficiency in scripting languages: Bash, Perl; Python optional.
- Practical experience with infrastructure automation: Puppet, Ansible.
- Track record of successful VM migrations in enterprise environments.
- Knowledge of change management practices: MOPs, CMRs.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills in virtualized and Linux environments.
