Senior Data Engineer Role

We are seeking a skilled professional to fill the role of Senior Data Engineer. This position involves working with data architecture and engineering to design, build, and deploy cutting-edge data solutions.

The successful candidate will have extensive hands-on experience in data architecture and engineering, with a strong focus on data ingestion, transformation, and curation. They will work closely with architects, analysts, data modellers, and business stakeholders to deliver robust data solutions that meet the needs of our clients.

  • Data Pipeline Design and Development: The Senior Data Engineer will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines using Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, and related Azure services.
  • Collaboration and Communication: They will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver robust data solutions, ensuring clear communication and effective stakeholder management.
  • Solution Design and Technical Discussions: The Senior Data Engineer will participate in solution design and technical discussions to ensure scalable and secure data workflows.
  • Performance Optimisation and Security: They will implement performance-optimised and secure data workflows, ensuring compliance with governance and quality standards.
  • Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: The Senior Data Engineer will create and maintain clear, accurate, and up-to-date technical documentation for data assets, pipelines, and processes, as well as share knowledge with junior team members.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Proven Experience: More than 6 years of experience in data engineering, data warehousing, and analytics projects.
  • Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of modern data file formats, proficiency in Python, Spark, Azure Data Factory, and other relevant data transformation tools and frameworks.
  • Data Modelling and Governance: Expertise in data modelling across conceptual, logical, and physical layers, with knowledge of Dimensional Modelling and Data Vault 2.0 methodologies.
  • Cloud Services and Infrastructure: Experience with cloud data services, preferably within the Microsoft ecosystem, with exposure to AWS or GCP as an advantage.
  • Certifications and Education: Relevant certifications and education in data science, data engineering, or a related field.
