Medical Billing Position Overview

This medical billing role is a critical function within our organization, responsible for managing revenue cycles and ensuring timely payment from healthcare providers and insurance companies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee account receivables and maintain accurate records of payments and outstanding balances
  • Coordinate with healthcare providers to facilitate claim submission and follow-up
  • Strategically manage accounts to minimize delinquencies and optimize revenue recovery
  • Develop and implement effective strategies for collecting outstanding balances from patients, including establishing payment arrangements and monitoring payment activity
  • Maintain accurate and compliant Medicare bad-debt cost reports
  • Secure payment of outstanding balances for employee care
  • Verify patient insurance eligibility and ensure timely payment processing
  • Handle denied claims and appeal when necessary
  • Reconcile payments and post transactions to patient accounts
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with HIPAA regulations and industry standards
  • Provide exceptional customer service to patients inquiring about their accounts
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years experience as a US Medical Accounts Receivable/Medical Billing Specialist
  • Strong background in eyecare-related billing, preferably in an optometric practice setting
  • Thorough knowledge of medical billing and coding practices
  • Proven understanding of the healthcare billing process, including regulatory requirements and industry best practices
  • Familiarity with various healthcare insurance plans and policies
  • Experience with HIPAA regulations and industry compliance standards
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to provide high-quality customer service
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proficiency in medical billing software and technology
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
