Senior Open Source Security Specialist

This role is integral to Canonical's security team, tasked with providing comprehensive security coverage across diverse ecosystems and environments.
About the Role- Monitor, triage, respond to, and document new and existing vulnerabilities in open source software.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to identify issues, prioritize them, and coordinate remediation.
- Analyze, fix, and test vulnerabilities in open source packages.
- Audit source code for vulnerabilities.
- Develop tools and features to enhance the security of products and contribute to Ubuntu's overall security posture.
- Familiarity with coordinated disclosure practices.
- Understanding of common categories of security vulnerabilities and techniques for fixing them.
- Experience with Linux (Debian or Ubuntu preferred).
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with the team and Ubuntu community members.
- Curiosity, flexibility, accountability, and thoughtfulness.
