Accounts Receivable Specialist

Job Summary:

This role is responsible for managing the entire accounts receivable cycle from initial billing to final payment.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successfully negotiating with customers, resolving disputes and delivering results-driven collections strategies.

  • Contacting Customers:
  • Contact business-to-business (B2B) customers via phone, email or fax to discuss outstanding invoices and billing issues.
  • Manage a portfolio of 300-600 accounts focused on a Canadian and/or US territory.
  • Negotiate customer payment terms as needed based on assessment of account status to ensure maximum payment recovery.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with customer accounts and champion the company's receivable policy.
  • Manage past-due hold requests within service level agreements to mitigate risk.
  • Work closely with internal sales reps to proactively troubleshoot payment issues.
  • Document and track collections activity using a monthly aging report.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Billing and Collections:
  • Process incoming payments and accurately apply them to customer accounts.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities to improve cash flow through targeted collections efforts.
  • Analyze and resolve billing discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Credit and Risk Management:
  • Conduct thorough credit evaluations and make informed decisions about extending credit to new customers.
  • Monitor customer credit ratings and take proactive measures to minimize bad debt.
  • Communication and Customer Service:
  • Provide exceptional customer service and respond to customer inquiries in a prompt and professional manner.
  • Foster positive relationships with customers to increase loyalty and retention.
  • Professional Development:
  • Pursue ongoing training and education to stay up-to-date on industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to share knowledge and expertise.
