Software Security Specialist, Product Security Role

This role is responsible for designing and implementing security measures to protect software products throughout their lifecycle. A strong understanding of secure coding principles, OWASP Top 10, and software development lifecycle (SDLC) is required.

  • This includes advocating and implementing secure coding standards and tools, providing security training and awareness for development teams, investigating and responding to product-related security incidents, and developing and maintaining incident response plans and playbooks.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field, and experience in product security, application security, or a similar role. They must be proficient with security tools like SAST, DAST, and vulnerability scanners, and have excellent communication skills to articulate security concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

The successful candidate will work closely with engineering teams to help secure SolarWinds software products and ensure compliance with industry standards such as GDPR, HIPAA, or ISO 27001. They will maintain documentation and audit trails for compliance purposes and contribute to the development of robust, secure software products that maintain user trust and comply with evolving security standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Secure Development Practices: Advocate and implement secure coding standards and tools, provide security training and awareness for development teams, investigate and respond to product-related security incidents, and develop and maintain incident response plans and playbooks.
  • Compliance and Regulation: Ensure products adhere to industry standards, maintain documentation and audit trails for compliance purposes, and contribute to the development of compliant software solutions.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with engineering teams to help secure SolarWinds software products, communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, and provide guidance on security best practices.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience in product security, application security, or a similar role
  • Strong knowledge of secure coding principles, OWASP Top 10, and software development lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Proficiency with security tools like SAST, DAST, and vulnerability scanners
  • Excellent communication skills to articulate security concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders
