Medical Virtual Assistant Job Description

A medical virtual assistant plays a crucial role in ensuring the best interests of healthcare providers, patients, and medical establishments are met by working closely with medical professionals or health insurance companies.

This position requires strong organizational skills, excellent communication skills, and attention to detail. As a medical virtual assistant, you will be responsible for managing inbound and outbound calls, maintaining accurate records, and providing administrative support to healthcare professionals.

  • Key Responsibilities:
    • Manage inquiries, appointments, and data verification from patients, providers, and healthcare insurance companies.
    • Maintain exceptional phone etiquette and navigate through various Electronic Medical Records systems (EMRs).
    • Verify healthcare insurance coverage and eligibility, and provide administrative support including data entry, appointment scheduling, email management, record management, and time-keeping.
    • Take charge of health promotion, explanation of care plans, admissions, new patient intake, and front-desk triage.
    • Establish professional relationships with medical professionals and patients as a primary liaison between patients and providers.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To excel in this role, you will need:

  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a medical-related background.
  • Familiarity with medical terminologies and healthcare-related degree is highly preferred.
  • Intermediate skills with Google Workspace and/or Microsoft Office, and HIPAA Certification is an advantage.
  • Strong attention to detail, impartiality, and high organization level.
  • Computer proficiency and openness to working night shifts.
