The Medical Coding Trainer is responsible for providing comprehensive training for both new and existing coders. The primary objective of this role is to ensure that all team members possess the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in medical coding.
This includes:
• Assisting in developing modules for medical coding training (CD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS)
• Maintaining expertise on ICD 10 CM, ICD 10 PCS, CPT and HCPCS coding guidelines
• Updating existing training modules to reflect industry developments
• Developing and producing materials for inpatient medical coding exercises, assessment, and qualifying examination
• Providing training and review for onboarding coders as well as refresher trainings for Tenured coders
• Disseminating changes and updates in guidelines and rules to ensure seamless implementation
• Collaborating with workgroups to resolve issues impacting internal and external customers
• Participating in monthly calibration training to enhance coding accuracy
• Creating assessments to evaluate learnings from calibration training
• Consolidating coder scores from calibration assessment and presenting consolidated data to operations
Requirements:
To be considered for this position, applicants must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or any allied medical course and hold a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC) license. A minimum of 2 years of Medical coding work experience is also required. Additionally, flexibility to work on Day shift and remote work setup are essential.
