Medical Coding Specialist

This position is responsible for reviewing and analyzing patient medical records to ensure accuracy and completeness. It requires the ability to assign correct codes for diagnoses and procedures in line with official coding standards.

Responsibilities include reviewing and analyzing patient medical records, assigning correct ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and payer-specific billing and documentation regulations, collaborating with healthcare providers to resolve documentation inconsistencies and discrepancies, staying updated with industry changes through continuous training and education, performing audits to identify coding errors, denial trends, and opportunities for process improvement, responding to coding-related questions from internal teams, providers, and insurance payers, and maintaining confidentiality and adhering strictly to HIPAA regulations.

Requirements
  • AAPC or AHIMA certification is required.
  • At least 3 years of medical coding experience in a clinical or healthcare setting are required.
  • Familiarity with U.S. healthcare systems and U.S. experience are preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and coding systems is required.
  • Proficiency in using coding tools and Electronic Health Record (EHR) platforms is necessary.
  • Strong analytical skills and a high level of accuracy are essential.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Ability to work independently and in a collaborative remote environment is necessary.
