This role will play a crucial part in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with tax and regulatory requirements, and contributing to the overall financial health of the organisation.

The responsibilities of this position include:

  1. Financial Reporting & Compliance
  • Prepare financial statements in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards (AASB) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • Ensure compliance with Australian Taxation Office (ATO) requirements, including GST, BAS, PAYG, and income tax returns.
  • Assist with ASIC financial reporting and statutory lodgments.
Month-End & Year-End Closing
  • Perform month-end and year-end reconciliations for balance sheet and profit & loss accounts.
  • Prepare accruals, prepayments, and journal entries.
  • Assist in external and internal audits, ensuring proper documentation and compliance.
Budgeting & Forecasting
  • Support the finance team in developing annual budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Conduct variance analysis and provide insights on financial performance.
Accounts Management & Reconciliation
  • Oversee general ledger maintenance, bank reconciliations, and intercompany transactions.
  • Monitor accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections.
Taxation & Regulatory Compliance
  • Prepare and lodge BAS, FBT, payroll tax, and other statutory returns.
  • Assist with tax planning strategies and liaise with external tax advisors.
Process Improvement & Financial Controls
  • Identify inefficiencies in financial processes and implement improvements.
  • Ensure adherence to internal controls and corporate governance policies.
Stakeholder & Business Partnering
  • Collaborate with senior management, auditors, external consultants, and regulatory bodies.
  • Provide financial advice to support business decisions.

This position requires a strong foundation in accounting principles and practices, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A degree in Accounting or Tax, and CPA certification.
  • At least 3 years' experience in tax or accounting roles, preferably with an Australian client.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics or similar accounting systems.
  • A solid understanding of tax legislation in Australia, including GST and income tax.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting standards, especially tax effect accounting.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills, with ability to multitask effectively and manage timelines.
  • High level of digital literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
