Job Description

Cognizant is seeking an experienced Cobol Analyst/Programmer for our fast-growing business area. We require a problem-solver, idea-maker, and high-energy individual to join our team.

  • We are looking for someone with a minimum of 5-7 years of experience in systems development, analysis, and design.
  • The ideal candidate will have competent systems analysis and design skills, as well as experience with Cobol/Db2, Unix, and testing.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze business requirements and prepare program specifications at the systems level for simple to minor systems or modules.
  • Develop or maintain, test, and implement modules according to system specifications.
  • Identify all possible scenarios and prepare tests for the systems under development.
  • Execute test plans during development and system testing and provide user acceptance testing or other testing support as required.
  • Provide post-implementation and production support for systems including analysis of production problems.
  • Perform implementation activities such as program promotions, installation of the system, training, and tutorial for end users.
  • Perform development/update of the Users Manual, Systems Manual, and Operations Manual.
  • Provide updates and status reports to the project manager during the course of development and related support activities.
  • In charge of a system module. Identify areas for improvement/enhancement on existing system module or on the entire system, and on new ones being developed.
  • Determine, analyze, and transform business requirements to produce design specifications at the system and programming levels.
