Custody Tax Operations Team

The Custody Tax Operations team is responsible for ensuring the accurate processing and tracking of tax relief at source or reclaims on behalf of Northern Trust's global client base. The successful candidate will be an integral part of this team, working closely with colleagues to ensure maximum tax benefits.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execution of complex tax processes requiring expertise in interpreting policies, guidelines, and/or processes.
  • Ownership of one or more processes, reports, and/or procedures.
  • Reviews work of others, including review of tax breakdowns and/or tax reclaims.
  • Provides training and control reporting as needed.
  • Handles complex queries and refers complicated issues to higher level specialists and/or regional tax team as needed.

To succeed in this role, you will require:

  • Strong time-management skills with the ability to effectively prioritize tasks according to their level of urgency and importance.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and organizational skills.
  • Analytical and procedurally competent, primarily on daily execution.
  • Expertise in a specific skill set but remains focused primarily on daily execution.
  • Technical soundness in own area of expertise and good operational knowledge of other areas within the tax practice.
  • Ability to challenge assumptions to drive continual improvement and think creatively to develop new ideas or ways of doing things without increasing costs or risk.
  • Takes initiative to accomplish tasks and make decisions according to risk, priorities, and deadlines.
