Residential Drafting Specialist

Our organization seeks a highly skilled Residential Drafting Specialist to join their team. This role presents an exciting opportunity to collaborate with engineering partners, provide timely customer and permit support, and maintain well-organized documentation.

This position requires a detail-oriented and proactive individual dedicated to delivering exceptional work that supports our organization's growth and commitment to excellence.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough research and locate plats or surveys using local Geographic Information Systems (GIS), recreate lot lines, develop options for house placement and orientation, generate site layout options, and ensure complete and accurate agency submittals while adhering to Oregon (OR) and Washington (WA) permitting procedures.
  • Prepare detailed drawings specific to each lot, revise existing plan documents incorporating engineering details, and organize the plan library according to manager directives.
  • Offer prompt on-site support to builders and expedite permitting by facilitating communication between city/county staff.
  • Produce address-specific plans within set deadlines, update and manage the plan library per manager's instructions, create new plan designs from schematics to the design development stage, and execute SPR drafting tasks.
  • Respond promptly to questions regarding previously distributed work, assist the Permit Coordinator with submittal materials and questions, and analyze, research, and defend drawings as needed to meet jurisdictional reviewer requirements.
Requirements:
  • A minimum of an associate's degree in a related field; a bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • At least 2-5 years of relevant drafting experience or equivalent.
  • Experience in residential construction or home remodeling drafting is essential.
  • Familiarity with building codes and permitting standards in WA and OR is highly desirable.
  • Ability to conduct online research and proficiency in local GIS tools.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Hands-on construction experience, such as framing, is beneficial but not required.
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to build rapport with various stakeholders.
  • Professional demeanor and ability to effectively collaborate with different teams.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
