Job Opportunity: Senior Tax Accountant

About the Role:

This is a senior-level position within an accounting department responsible for completing complex working papers and providing assistance to the onshore team with clients' tax compliance reports.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Preparation and lodgement of individual income tax returns, business activity statements, installment activity statements, and fringe benefits tax returns
  • Bookkeeping in client accounting files including Xero, MYOB, and occasionally Quickbooks
  • Payroll processing in client accounting files including Xero and MYOB
  • Uploading invoice payments for clients
  • Processing quarterly superannuation payments
  • Preparation of monthly management reports (i.e., P&L and balance sheet) for clients from their accounting platforms
  • Ad hoc tasks, such as accounting for Division 7a loans, tax planning, trust distribution minutes, reviewing work prepared by junior accountants, and any task deemed necessary by the Account Manager involving client management
Requirements:
  • A graduate degree in Finance or Accounting is required, preferably accompanied by certifications such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA)
  • At least 4-5 years of experience in Australian accounting or taxation is essential
  • Knowledge of Australian Taxation and Compliance is preferred, along with general accounting experience and a solid background
  • Must have experience in Individual, Partnership, Trust, and Company Compliance
  • SMSF compliance knowledge is optional but highly valued
Skills and Tools:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Familiarity with accounting tools such as Xero, MYOB, and ability to learn new systems as needed
