Senior Software Engineering Lead

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineering Lead to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and developing a team of Python engineers, hiring, coaching, mentoring, feedback, and hands-on career development.

The ideal candidate will have sound engineering principles, planning and managing progress on agreed goals and projects, setting and managing expectations with other engineering and operations teams, coordinating with management and internal and external stakeholders or customers.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and developing a team of Python engineers working remotely
  • Hiring, coaching, mentoring, feedback, and hands-on career development
  • Demonstrating sound engineering principles by contributing code
  • Planning and managing progress on agreed goals and projects
  • Setting and managing expectations with other engineering and operations teams
  • Coordinating with management and internal and external stakeholders or customers
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • To love developing and growing people and have a track record of doing it
  • To be knowledgeable and passionate about agile software development
  • To enjoy leading, coaching, and mentoring software developers - especially Python ones
  • To be comfortable administrating Linux servers, including their storage and networking
  • To have hands-on experience with software automation

  • A university degree in Computer Science or related software engineering field
  • A thorough understanding of modern infrastructure, including OpenStack or Kubernetes
  • Experience in operations as well as software development
