System Administrator Role

TASQ Staffing Solutions is looking for a highly skilled System Administrator to work on our IBM MQ project. The successful candidate will be responsible for the administration, maintenance, and performance tuning of MQ systems on z/OS.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer and maintain MQ objects (queue managers, queues, channels, triggers) on z/OS.
  • Monitor and analyze MQ performance using tools like IBM MQ Explorer, Tivoli.
  • Tune queue depths, log sizes, and buffer pools for optimal performance.
  • Apply patches, updates, and perform version upgrades for MQ systems.
  • Implement MQ replication, backup, and recovery procedures.

Requirements:

  • Thorough knowledge of IBM Websphere MQ and IBM z/OS Systems Administration.
  • Knowledge of z/OS functions, high-level knowledge of architecture and hardware.
  • Thorough knowledge of using JCL, IBM & ISV Utilities used.
  • Overall knowledge of other support areas like z/OS, Storage, and Database.
  • Troubleshooting skills to quickly resolve critical issues.
  • Good to have: IBM CICS (Customer Information Control System) experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience in MQ system administration.
