Threat Intelligence Strategist

The Threat Intelligence Strategist will be responsible for owning and executing Canonical's threat intelligence strategy, including understanding of which cyber threat actors are targeting our products and services. This individual will utilize intelligence on Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs) to better inform product development decisions and internal cybersecurity controls.

  • Build and maintain a comprehensive threat intelligence strategy
  • Develop and execute OSINT research environments
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to inform on activity of interest
  • Contribute to the wider threat intelligence community through participation in industry events and research initiatives
  • Work closely with product and engineering teams to explain cybersecurity threats and advise on mitigation strategies

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and maintaining a thorough understanding of the current open source threat landscape
  • Utilizing various tools and techniques to gather and analyze intelligence on adversary tradecraft trends
  • Providing actionable insights to inform product development decisions and internal cybersecurity controls
  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders to develop and implement threat intelligence plans and procedures
Requirements
  • Experience as a threat intelligence leader or similar role
  • Knowledgeable about computer networking/infrastructure concepts and the current open source threat landscape
  • Highly competent with OSINT tools (e.g., Buscador, Trace Labs OSINT VM, OSINT Framework)
  • Able to identify, organize, catalogue, and track adversary tradecraft trends — often with incomplete data
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate technical content to a variety of audiences
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional portfolio of OSINT related scripts, tools, or frameworks
  • Demonstrated involvement in the larger OSINT community
  • Certifications in related areas (e.g. GOSI, SANS SEC487 & SEC587, IntelTechniques OSIP)
