API/Backend Engineering Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior API/Backend Engineer to join our dynamic API team. In this role, you will contribute to designing, developing, and maintaining high-performance, scalable, and reliable APIs.

As a senior member of the team, you will make architectural decisions, mentor other engineers, and ensure best practices are implemented across the backend infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop scalable, reliable, and high-performance APIs as part of the API team.
  • Contribute to system scoping, drafting technical specifications, and conducting code reviews.
  • Establish and maintain best practices for backend infrastructure, focusing on scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Design and implement robust test cases for new APIs and integration capabilities.
  • Deploy changes and execute migrations in an agile, iterative manner while ensuring backward compatibility.
  • Mentor junior engineers and foster knowledge sharing through code reviews and technical sessions.
  • Troubleshoot production issues across various services and infrastructure layers.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to scope, design, and deliver key features on the product roadmap.
  • Participate in the continuous improvement of processes and tools related to CI/CD, observability, and the overall development workflow.

Requirements and Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • At least 6 years of professional experience in backend software development, with a strong focus on public-facing API products.
  • Deep knowledge of full-stack technologies required to build and run APIs, including FastAPI experience.
  • Expertise in RESTful API design and implementation, ensuring scalability, security, and performance.
  • Proven experience with microservices architecture and event-based technologies such as webhooks.
  • Applied AI tools and technologies in API development and integration workflows.
  • Proficiency in SQL and advanced database design, with strong skills in performance optimization.
  • Hands-on experience with observability and monitoring tools like Datadog, New Relic, or similar.
  • Solid understanding of CI/CD methodologies and practical experience in pipeline automation.
  • Strong experience working with AWS, particularly services like API Gateway, Lambda, and the Serverless Stack.
  • Familiarity with agile software development methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban.
  • Ability to gather, analyze, and document technical requirements and translate them into actionable specifications.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
