Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with Philippine environmental laws and regulations.
  • Submit required reports, including SMR and CMR.
  • Identify potential environmental impacts and recommend mitigating measures.
  • Handle permits and clearances for construction and operations.
  • Ensure proper waste storage, labeling, and disposal.
  • Comply with the Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC) requirements.
  • Oversee environmental management systems, including wastewater and air control.
  • Report major environmental incidents within 24 hours.
  • Collaborate on reports, policies, and permits with relevant stakeholders.
  • Lead community engagement and grievance processes.
  • Implement and report on the Social Development Program (SDP).
  • Adhere to Pollution Control Officer guidelines.

Health & Safety:

  • Monitor health and safety during construction activities.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings and inductions.
  • Prepare comprehensive health and safety reports.
  • Perform risk assessments and issue work permits accordingly.
  • Investigate accidents and propose corrective actions.
  • Organize regular safety drills.
  • Manage health and safety documents.
  • Create and implement safety policies.
  • Build and lead an Occupational Health and Safety/Emergency Response Team.
  • Organize health and safety training sessions.
  • Review and update health and safety policies regularly.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science or a related field is mandatory.
  • A valid PCO Training Certificate is preferred.
  • A minimum COSH Training Certificate is required.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with Philippine environmental laws and regulations; knowledge of IFC Performance Standards and World Bank ESSH Guidelines is an asset.
  • Experience in preparing environmental reports.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to conduct environmental and social awareness/trainings to project staff and external stakeholders in coordination with the ESG Officer.
