Medical Content Specialist

This role involves creating, reviewing, and maintaining medical content for various applications. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in health information management or a related field.


Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and document clinical requirements using established best practices.
  • Validate clinical requirements in collaboration with subject matter experts to ensure accurate coding guideline interpretations.
  • Work with the Rule Writers team and cross-functional members to evaluate rule/policy behavior and confirm that solution requirements meet business expectations.
  • Document content requirements to facilitate immediate post-release content maintenance handoffs.
  • Contribute to user documentation, including edits and clarifications.
  • Assist with end-user training activities.
  • Support Quality Assurance test plan validation.
  • Perform user acceptance testing of policies and/or rules.
  • Provide requirements subject matter expertise to internal and external clients.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in health information management, nursing, or a related healthcare field.
  • AAPC Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification or AHIMA CCS-P or CCS certification required.
  • At least 5 years of relevant healthcare experience, with at least 2 years as a payment/reimbursement or medical policy analyst, medical coder, medical claims processor, chart reviewer/auditor, or clinical editing analyst.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience with ClaimsXten solution.
  • Effective communication skills: able to present complex material clearly via multiple mediums.
  • Ability to analyze complex data, identify trends, and assess potential vulnerabilities.
  • Superior critical thinking skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle.
  • Master's degree in a healthcare-related field.
  • Knowledge of healthcare reimbursement and payment policies and methodologies.
  • Working knowledge of pre-payment editing and payment integrity is preferred.
