Technical Drafter

A detail-oriented and technically proficient Technical Drafter with experience in furniture production is required to contribute to a design and manufacturing team.

This role involves transforming concepts and specifications into precise technical drawings that guide the fabrication and assembly of custom furniture products. The individual will work closely with engineers, designers, and production staff to ensure that all technical documentation meets both aesthetic and functional standards.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in drafting, deep knowledge of materials and construction methods used in furniture making, and the ability to work efficiently in a collaborative environment.

  • Create detailed 2D and 3D technical drawings and schematics using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar CAD software.
  • Translate design concepts and sketches into fully dimensioned production-ready technical documents.
  • Prepare exploded views, assembly instructions, and component lists to support fabrication and installation processes.
  • Maintain organized documentation of all revisions, drawings, and technical records.
  • Collaborate with furniture designers and production teams to ensure technical drawings align with design intent, manufacturing capabilities, and material specifications.
  • Review and adjust designs for structural integrity, ergonomics, and material efficiency.
  • Provide technical support during prototyping, fabrication, and installation phases.
  • Troubleshoot design or material issues that arise during production.

Qualifications:

  • An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Drafting, Industrial Design, Architecture, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience in technical drafting, specifically in the furniture manufacturing or millwork industry preferred.
  • A strong understanding of woodworking techniques, joinery, materials, and hardware used in furniture production.
  • Familiarity with CNC production workflows, material optimization, and lean manufacturing principles is a plus.
  • Experience working with global or distributed teams is a plus.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, SolidWorks, Revit, or other drafting/CAD software.
  • The ability to interpret architectural and design drawings and translate them into shop drawings.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Excellent attention to detail and high standards for accuracy and quality.
  • The ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
