Freelance Architectural Technician

We are seeking a skilled professional to take on the role of a Freelance Draftsman. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and excellent customer service abilities.

• Research and gather information using local GIS systems to recreate lot lines, develop house placement options, generate site layouts, and ensure accurate agency submittals.
• Generate custom drawings for each lot, revise existing plans with engineering details, and organize work for easy access.
• Provide timely support to builders on-site and expedite permitting by communicating with city/county staff.
• Produce address-specific plans within set deadlines, update and manage the plan library as directed, create new plan designs from schematics to design development stage, and execute SPR drafting tasks.
• Field questions and update previously distributed work promptly, support the Permit Coordinator with submittal materials and questions, and analyze, research, and defend drawings to jurisdictional reviewers as needed.
• Communicate with engineering partners' work for accuracy and value engineering, holding partners accountable to agreed-upon timelines for completion.

• An associate's degree in a related field is preferred, but an equivalent amount of experience will be considered.
• Two to five years of drafting experience or equivalent is required.
• Residential construction or home remodeling drafting experience is mandatory.
• Familiarity with building codes and permitting standards in WA and OR is highly desired.
• Ability to conduct internet research and familiarity with local GIS systems is necessary.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, and Outlook) is essential.
• Hands-on construction experience (e.g., framing) is helpful but not required.
• Strong customer service skills and ability to build rapport are crucial.
• Professional demeanor and ability to collaborate with various stakeholders is vital.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with attention to detail are essential.
