The role of the Financial Accountant is to provide essential support to the client's finance team in their daily accounting activities, month-end processes, reporting, compliance, and statutory obligations.

Key Responsibilities

  • To manage full-cycle accounts payable, ensuring timely and accurate payments to suppliers.
  • To handle expense reconciliation and reporting, including analyzing aged accounts and contributing to cash flow forecasting.
  • To explore AP automation opportunities, identify areas for improvement, streamline processes, and assist in implementing automation tools.

Cash Management

  • To design and implement a cash flow tool that is flexible, adaptable to change, and capable of regular updates.
  • To maintain and manage cash flow balances, aligning with company strategy, shareholder expectations, and performance delivery objectives.

Budget Support

  • To contribute to the budget delivery process, including building templates, consolidating accounts, and coordinating timeframes and deliverables from the business.

Main Skills

  • A comprehensive understanding of IFRS, statutory regulations, and compliance principles.
  • Knowledge of General Ledger systems and associated processes.
  • Proficiency in Excel.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities, interacting with diverse stakeholders.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
  • To act with integrity, honesty, and confidentiality.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to work independently or as part of a larger team.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meeting tight deadlines.

Education and Experience

  • Accounting qualifications or relevant experience (at least 3 years post-qualification).
  • Understanding of Australian Accounting Standards.
  • Knowledge of FBT, GST, and direct/indirect taxes.
  • Experience with financial software and intercompany procedures.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Able to work autonomously and initiate projects appropriately.
  • High-level numeracy and attention to detail.
