Job Opportunity: Writer-Editor

We seek a skilled and organized Writer-Editor who is deadline-oriented and intimately familiar with essay writing, prompt-based narrative writing, and other similar creative nonfiction writing.

The ideal candidate is experienced in the college application process, exceptionally skilled as a writer, and adept at providing written feedback on nonfiction writing with an eye to style, structure, and intellectual clarity.

This role will require a high level of skill and flexibility. You will be required to research a vast array of topics, depending on the interests and activities of each student.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Content Development: Brainstorming with team members, giving feedback to students, and editing rough drafts to fix grammar, clarity, style, flow, structure, and word count.
  • Research Support: Researching different topics to strengthen work based on student interest and profile.
  • Collaboration: Assisting team members with drafting, brainstorming, augmenting, and reviewing assignments with urgent deadlines.
  • Operations Management: Handling administrative tasks associated with assignments, including communication, organization, email updates, reminders, and notetaking.
  • Business Growth: Working on projects that contribute to team and company growth during the off-season.

Requirements:

  • Excellent English verbal and written skills with a strong grip on grammar.
  • Graduated from a 4-year degree program in English, Literature, Journalism, Education, or related fields.
  • Experience working for an education consulting company specializing in college admissions is preferred but not required.
  • Portfolio with a minimum of three written samples (one creative piece and one research sample).
  • Flexibility to work during PST hours is preferred but not required.
  • No use of AI tools; all content must be original.
