Software Development Expert

We are seeking a skilled Software Development Expert to play a key role in shaping the future of open-source software and operating systems.

The ideal candidate will have strong skills in Python, Packaging, and Linux. They will be responsible for designing and maintaining specialist tools to support the developer build and publication process.

This role will involve working on tooling that builds snaps, charms, and rocks. The purpose is to enable developers to deliver app updates to millions of Linux systems automatically.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on various projects including Snapcraft, Charmcraft, and Rockcraft. These solutions provide ways to package software, collaboration between charmed operator developers, and building production-grade Ubuntu-based container images.

A key aspect of this role is extending the snap build ecosystem. This requires expertise in Python, Linux, and build systems as well as working with external open-source and commercial projects.
